The master with a gentle, but consistent air of authority will be rewarded with a brave, loving dog. Although the English Springer Spaniel does well with other pets, it may not be wise to leave it alone with the family bird as its hunting heritage may become apparent. So here are some tips to get you started training your new best friend:<br /><br />Respect and assurance are the two introductory fundamentals to any animal training course. Setting this basis is exceptionally important when schooling a dog. As pack animals, a dog's inherent sense of command is to follow the pack leader.<br /><br />By taking on the role of pack leader, you are making it simple for the dog to grasp how he should behave. Lacking respect and confidence you will not attain much success when schooling your dog. Your dog will come to respect and trust you in time, but first you must handle him reliably and impartially.
